CALGARY, Alberta, September 25, 2021–(BUSINESS WIRE)–CUPE flight attendants working at Swoop, WestJet`s ultra-low-cost airline, have signed their first collective agreement. MEPs voted today in favour of ratifying the provisional collective agreement reached in September. The five-year agreement includes wage improvements and the impetus towards industry-standard planning and wage rules. CUPE represents more than 200 flight attendants at Swoop. The parties are negotiating collectively on a first union agreement since February 2020. «This is the first collective agreement for our Swoop membership. The ratification of this agreement is proof that certification with CUPE has been instrumental in ensuring that our members strive for fair working conditions,» said CHRIS Rauenbusch, President of CUPE 4070. «It has not been easy to reach this agreement given the circumstances caused by the global pandemic. I would like to thank our union and our collective bargaining committee for working so hard to find a way forward despite the challenges of the past 18 months. CUPE also represents the cabin crew of WestJet Mainline and its subsidiary WestJet Encore.
